APSCE Award Winner of 2026

The APSCE Award Subcommittee is pleased to announce the following award winners of 2026,

* APSCE Early Career Researcher Award:  Dr. Alwyn Vwen Yen Lee (National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore)

Dr Lee has led research and development teams in education and industrial projects. His main research and teaching interests are in Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED), Knowledge Building, Learning Analytics, Technology-Enabled Assessment, Internet of Things (IoT), and Educational Technologies (EdTech). Dr Lee's prominent works include use of learning analytics and machine learning for understanding knowledge building discourse within CSCL environments. He has chaired international sub-conferences and doctoral consortiums, and was also the chair of the APSCE student wing in the Asia-Pacific region. Dr Lee won a Fulbright Scholar Award to the University of Pennsylvania, and was twice awarded the Dean's Commendation for Research at NIE, with an Outstanding Mentor Award in the Science Mentorship Programme, and was also a 3M Best Poster Awardee. He currently teaches post-graduate students and in-service teachers and look forward to broadening his research network.

 

* APSCE Distinguished Researcher Award: Dr. Lan Yu-Ju (National Taiwan Normal University, Taiwan)

Dr. Yu-Ju Lan is a Research Chair Professor in the Department of Chinese as a Second Language at National Taiwan Normal University. She is currently the Editor-in-Chief of Educational Technology & Society, Associate Editor of Language Learning & Technology, and on the editorial board of Ampersand. She is the president of the Taiwan Pedagogy and Practice in TELL Association. Her research interests include technology-enhanced foreign language learning, language learning in virtual worlds, mobile learning, and online synchronous teacher training. She has published nearly 50 SSCI journal papers. Dr. Lan has proposed the principles of designing tasks and VR contexts based on empirical evidence. As the need for using VR in learning grows, her pioneering works could provide essential implications for academia, education, and industries. For her outstanding research performance, she was awarded the Outstanding Research Award by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Taiwan, in 2022.
