Abstract:
Rapid advancements in immersive technologies offer transformative opportunities for teacher education. Pre-service teachers often struggle to translate theory into practice, particularly when facing complex scenarios such as classroom misbehavior, first-aid emergencies, classroom observation, and effective student questioning. Traditional training methods frequently lack the authentic, experiential practice needed to build real-world competence. This webinar explores how immersive virtual simulations can bridge this critical gap. Drawing on recent empirical research, we will examine specific case studies, including the immersive virtual reality system designed for managing problem behaviors in large classes. We will also discuss the use of panoramic video for nuanced classroom observation, as well as VR paired with Al for interactive questioning training. Analysis of these interventions demonstrates significant benefits, including enhanced long-term skill retention, more positive emotional engagement, and higher learning satisfaction compared to traditional methods. The talk will conclude with a forward-looking perspective on integrating immersive ecosystems into teacher training programs to foster highly prepared and confident educators.
