Abstract

In this session, we will discuss the impact AI is having in education. Ice will bring together key aspects of the University of Adelaide’s approach to the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on staff, students and learning to illustrate a holistic response to this new technology. He will discuss the role of policy, the attitudes of staff and students towards the new technology and how his institution is training both staff and students to use the tools ethically. He will discuss the role of communities of practice, research and training in revising and developing assessment tasks. Whilst the goal of the session is to open discussion and explore issues together it will be framed by discussion of courses developed for staff and students, the impact of AI on course design and the development of a framework to evaluate how the resilience of assessment tasks can be quickly evaluated. Results of staff and student surveys towards AI will be shared as well as the pilot results of the application of the resilience framework.
