Abstract

Recent advancements in generative AI have disrupted the education and tech policy space, sparking a conversation about the integration of artificial intelligence and computational action in K-12 classrooms. As educators and policymakers grapple with the social and practical implications of AI, this panel brings together experts from academia, industry, and policy to discuss the latest trends in generative AI and their applications in K-12 education. Panelists will share their insights on the opportunities for AI and computational action to enhance learning and teaching experiences, as well as the potential risks of AI and challenges of implementation in classrooms. The discussion will also focus on the policy implications of AI in education, including issues related to privacy, equity, and closing the digital divide. Attendees will have the opportunity to see an exclusive preview of MIT App Inventor’s new ChatGPT and DALL-E components for teaching generative AI to K-12 audiences through app development.
