Abstract:
This webinar explores the dynamic evolution of computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL) in the context of artificial intelligence (Al) and generative Al. Drawing from historical and theoretical perspectives, the presenters will examine how collaborative learning has shifted from human-to-human interactions to diverse human-to-Al interactions. Exploring various patterns of human-Al interaction and identifying the factors that influence these interactions can shed light on the nature of Al-empowered collaborative learning. The presenters will also discuss the differences between human-human and human-Al collaborations, which underscore the necessity of new CSCL theories. Through illustrative examples from their own research and recent developments in the field, the session will highlight key findings and insights. The session will conclude with a critical reflection on the implications of these changes for the future of CSCL.
