Abstract:
Digital transformation is revolutionizing higher education institutions worldwide. While some universities embraced technology-driven change intentionally, others reacted hastily to the disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Either way, colleges and universities face unique challenges in going digital, as most transformation frameworks target corporate processes. This presentation reviews relevant literature on digital transformation in higher education, examining proposed frameworks, common obstacles, and future research needs in this emerging field.

Biodata:
Merlin Teodosia Suarez is a Professor of Computer Science at De La Salle University. She has conducted pioneering research in using artificial intelligence for emotion and behavior analysis, and in developing technologies to support active aging including social media, and organizational transformation technologies. 
She previously served as Vice Chancellor of Academics and Dean of the College of Computer Studies at De La Salle University. In these leadership roles, she spearheaded the successful adoption of a new learning management system across the university. It is in her duties as administrator that she became interested in digital transformation in higher education. 
An accomplished scholar, she has published over 40 peer-reviewed papers on topics including affective computing, human-computer interaction, and technology adoption. She is also actively engaged in international higher education initiatives, serving as an academic quality assessor for universities in Southeast Asia.
