Abstract
This webinar discusses how to gamify a course based on a motivational theory, specifically the self-determination theory (SDT), to fulfill the learners’ basic psychological needs. It also discusses the effect of personality, which is the most important learners’ characteristic, on their gamified learning experiences. This webinar also presents and validates an architecture of an intelligent educational gamification system that harness the power of big data and learning analytics to automatically model students’ personalities and provide online real-time interventions for those at-risk of dropping-out the class. The obtained results could serve researchers and practitioners in developing adaptive gamification systems and human-computer interaction functionalities. Finally, this webinar opens future research directions for the use of gamification in new information systems.
