Jose Isidro Beraquit discusses the Distributional Hypothesis (DH).
DH states that words occurring in the same contexts tend to have similar meanings and the patterns these words form, depending on where they are located exactly, may be used to figure out what words mean in specific contexts. In this regard, DH is considered the basis of basic and advanced Statistical Semantics whose applications range from Linguistics to Cognitive Science.
This is part of a study group on text mining by the Ateneo Laboratory for the Learning Sciences.
